A mixed batch of around 73 artists from Oman pooled in 112 paintings for a special joint exhibition, which was inaugurated on November 18, to mark Oman’s 49th National Day. The Arabian Arts Academy, in association with the iconic Water- Front Mall, organised Oman Vista, a one-of-its-kind art exhibition where the country’s renowned artists were invited to create stunning landscapes of the country.
Oman Vista is about celebrating the vision of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said. Kethki Ambekar, manager, Arabian Arts Academy, told TheWeek that the initial idea was to have 49 artists creating 49 landscapes of Oman. But the overwhelming response from artists (local and expatriate) compelled them to expand the fray to accommodate all.
The quality of the artworks were such that all the entries – 112 paintings from 73 artists – were accepted. The exhibition was inaugurated by Sheikha Altaf bint Omar al Marhoon, assistant secretary general of the State Council’s Information and Research Centre. The paintings have been put on display-cum-sale till November 30.
Arabian Arts Academy is also in the process of opening an art gallery in the Water Front Mall and it is expected to be functional by January 2020, Ambekar added.
