Vale hosted a gathering recently for female staff with Carla Grasso, executive director for human resources and corporate services, in recognition of their instrumental role in propelling the company’s vision forward.

The meeting aimed to establish open communication channels between Vale’s female workforce and upper management to discuss challenges and potential strategies towards contributing to the company’s long-term presence in the region as a pioneering global entity that respects diversity and cultural differences, a press release said.

Recruitment strategies for Vale in Oman, career development as well as international experience opportunities available within Vale worldwide, were key points of discussion during the meeting.

The session was a part of a series of activities and exercises Vale has planned to create a productive and harmonious working environment.

Vale’s commercial office the for Middle East, North Africa and India in Muscat was inaugurated in 2007, and the company is currently constructing a pelletising plant and distribution centre in Sohar setting a target Omanisation rate of 80 per cent.
